Australia added a record 9.1 GW of solar, wind and battery capacity in FY2025/26, more than double the previous year, with batteries accounting for the majority of new capacity. But AEMO's own data shows the connections pipeline growing faster than completions, up 42% to 75.4 GW, with projects now spending a median 18 months in the developer-led implementation stage, up from 14, as design changes and financing delays slow the path from approval to full output.
